What better way to express yourself through your diabetes than by using awesome stickers on your technology?
It’s fun being a part robot, so share it with the world!
There are soooo many companies producing sensor patches nowadays, which is great because there are a LOT of choices.
However, too much choice can become overwhelming, so to help, I’m going to go through 5 of my favorite patches for the Dexcom Sensor!
If you’re interested in patches for the Freestyle Libre Sensor, then you can check out my post on that here.
I’m not currently using the Dexcom sensor, but I did use it for a few months during my road trip to Ireland!
I'm actually making my way through all the CGM options.
I've tried the Freestyle Libre, the Dexcom G6 and next I'll be trying Medtronic, and hopefully then I'll know which one is best for my diabetes management.
The Dexcom made such a difference to me, but since I was self-funding at the time, I decided to switch back to Freestyle Libre to cut costs.
All the patches that I’ll chat about below are all suitable for the Dexcom sensor.
Interestingly, I actually avoided wearing patches for a while, because I couldn’t find one I liked or one that stuck on (I tried a few cheap products), but recently I’ve tried a few and really like them.
Plus, I think it's important to embrace our diabetes and I love that sometimes my diabetes patches prompt a conversation and gives me an chance to educate people on diabetes.
Sometimes I don't want to draw attention to my sensor, so I'll opt for a more subtle Dexcom patch, but that's the beauty of it, you can get patches to suit all sorts of moods and personalities!
Stick2Hope are my favourite for expressing that personality!!
If you're looking for a product that offers choice, then opt for Stick2Hope. With over 1400+ products on offer, you'll find something to suit your style and personality! Their products are all super-good quality, and I love that the company's founder is a fellow diabetic.
One of the signs of a good diabetic patch company is when the person who founded it, is actually diabetic!
If they love their own product, and their diabetic, then you can be sure you’re going to love it too!
Stick2Hope is the most recent patch brand I’ve tried, and you can check out my full review here..
They offer patches for a wide variety of diabetic devices including, Dexcom G6, Freestyle Libre, Omnipod, Guardian (by Medtronic), and they even have patches for infusion sets, and “toppers” for Dexcom's!
Every sticker is unique, and it’s sort of like a pick-n-mix for shopping..
One of my personal favourites is “Life begins after coffee”. I can’t survive without coffee, so this suits me to a T!
Some other benefits of the patches for Dexcom from Sitck2Hope are:
Pressure-sensitive high tack adhesive
Extremely elastic
Fray resistant
Latex-Free
Water-resistant
Breathable
Outlast the manufacturer's wear time
Positives of Stick2Hope
You can match patches directly to your personality
They have a range of themed patches- such as for Christmas and St Patrick's Day
They offer specific “underlay” patches for those with sensitive skin (I have terribly sensitive skin!)
They can create new themes for you- so if they don’t have it, they can create it!
Drawbacks of Stick2Hope
Bulk packs are only 4, which may be a little for some
NJAP is a company that creates a range of patches for every CGM you can imagine, Dexcom, Medtronic, MiaoMiao, Omnipod, and the Freestyle Libre.
The key design of their patches for Dexcom is the “non-stick” back sections of the patches.
What this means is the middle back part of the patches doesn’t actually stick to your sensor.
They only stick to your skin, this means you can actually swap and change your patches as often as you like, without the fear of your sensor ripping out.
Because Not Just a Patch offers a wide range of colours in their Dexcom patches, it means you can mix and match with your outfits, or simply to how you’re feeling.
Some other cool features of Not Just A Patch include:
No skin irritation due to the use of medical quality hypoallergenic adhesive
Wave pattern form for skin adhesion and respiration
Benefits of Not Just A Patch
They come in a wide range of colors, so there is something to suit every personality and style
When you use the patch in addition to the “Skin Glu” you’re giving yourself the best possible chance for full length of use from your sensor
You can buy in bulk (packs of 30)

3. Gif Grips
GrifGrips is a company that was born out of Alabama.
Their patches were created with the intention to be a secure, strong, gentle, and breathable option for keeping your Dexcom in place.
There are currently 5 different adhesive formulas so you can find one that suits you best. They have an Original formula, Power-X Formula, Extreme Formula, Pure and Simple Formula, and Clearly Formula.
The length of time these patches lasts does differ depending on the device you use. But 3-10 days is the time range and they’re all waterproof.
They offer patches for both the Dexcom, Freestyle Libre, and even the Ambrosia Nightrider.
They offer a lot of cartoon/drawing style designs on their patches, alongside a range of basic colours. If you want a certain theme, such as Marvel, or Disney, then this is a good choice.
Benefits of Gif Grips
A range of different patches to suit your skin type
Good choice of patches for kids
Drawbacks of Gif Grips
Having 5 different patches that offer different things may seem overwhelming and confusing
Tend to come in smaller quantities
4. Expression Med
Another popular company for Dexcom sensor patches is Expression Med which is a US-based company.
They make a range of medical adhesives that are placed over Continuous Glucose Monitors and other devices to help keep them on your skin longer and safer.
On offer are over 50 stylish designs, and they do designs based on the time of year, for example, for Christmas or Halloween.
The patches are waterproof (most patch companies nowadays create patches that are either waterproof or water-resistant)
Benefits of Expression Med
The material won’t fray so will still look good after a couple of days
It’s easy to apply in 3 steps
Drawbacks of Expression Med
It’s quite expensive (especially if you’re only interested in single patches)
They may not be suitable for all skin types (prep needed for oily skin, or sensitive skin)
5. PatchLux
If you’re looking for a great-value product that has wonderful reviews on Amazon, then PatchLux might be the right choice for you.
Currently these guys only sell on Amazon but offer a variety of patches for CGMs including the Dexcom.
They claim their adhesive will allow your patch to stick longer and will last up to 10 days.
The Dexcom patches are also made from latex free adhesive which means it shouldn’t trigger any allergic reactions or skin irritation.
In terms of colours on offer, there are very limited choices.
Benefits of PumpPeelz
A more budget option for those on a tighter budget
Drawbacks of PumpPeelz
Not a lot of choice in terms of colour
Branding is a little basic and bland
So there we have it, my guide to the best Dexcom patches for your sensor!
