The market for sensor patches has exploded, which in my opinion is awesome.
There are now lots of ways to express your personality via your diabetes gear, and new ways to keep diabetes a lot more fun.
But, when there’s a lot of choices, it can be difficult to decide who’s best investing in.
Well, to help you decide, I’ve put together this guide on the best Freestyle Libre patches for your sensor.
I’ve been using a Freestyle Libre for at least 6 years now. I self-funded the Freestyle Libre 1, then it became available on the NHS, which was awesome.
Then when the Freestyle Libre 2 came out, I switched to that, and it’s my CGM of choice at the moment.
Therefore all these patches that I’ll chat about below are all suitable for the Freestyle Libre 1 and 2.
I actually avoided wearing patches for a while, because I couldn’t find one I liked or one that stuck on (I tried a few cheap products), but I’m currently using Not Just A Patch, and I can honestly say that when it comes to choosing a Freestyle Libre patch for your sensor, you want to invest in something that’s good quality and will actually work.
I've been using Not Just A Path for a while now, and I absolutely love their range of colours and the feel of the material. Hands down, it's better than any other sensor protector I have used. They look better and last longer.
My top recommendation for patches for your Freestyle Libre is Not Just A Patch.
NJAP is a company that creates a range of patches for every CGM you can imagine, Dexcom, Medtronic, MiaoMiao, Omnipod, and the Freestyle Libre.
The key design of their patches for Freestyle Libre is the “non-stick” back sections of the patches.
What this means is the middle back part of the patches doesn’t actually stick to your sensor.
They only stick to your skin, this means you can actually swap and change your patches as often as you like, without the fear of your sensor ripping out.
Because Not Just a Patch offers a wide range of colours in their Freestyle Libre patches, it means you can mix and match with your outfits, or simply to how you’re feeling.
The fact you can remove the stickers without ripping out the sensor is brilliant, and something I really appreciate.
The patches are also waterproof, and I’ve been in the sea, swimming pool, and showers with them and it hasn’t fallen off, so I can vouch for that!
Stick2Hope are a company founded by a fellow type 1 diabetic, which I always love because who better than to know what patches will be great for a diabetic, than an actual diabetic themselves!
They offer a range of patches for all types of devices, and they even have patches for infusion sets, which is great.
Of course they have patches for the Freestyle Libre.
They have a wide range of patches to suit all personalities, and you can buy them in themed packs such as the butterfly variety pack or you can buy individual patches and mix and match.
They patches will last the duration of the Freestyle Libre and they're water resistant.
This is also a US company and the patches are made just outside of Philadelphia.
They offer underlay patches too which are particularly useful for people who suffer from sensitive skin (that's me!)
You can even get a patch personalized to your own design if you send in a JPEG file!

Benefits of Stick2Hope
A range of different patches to suit your skin type
I haven’t yet used the Freestyle Libre patches on my sensors, but I have used PumpPeelz in the past for their cool peelz for pumps, and they were great quality, so perhaps their Freestyle Libre patches for sensors are just as good.
They offer a WIDE range of colours and patterns for your Freestyle Libre, so I’m pretty sure you’ll find something you love.
Their patches are in a typical circle shape, and you can purchase them individually, (or add as many as you want of the same product to your basket).
What I also find cool is that they also do Universal Infusion Set Tape and as someone who has ripped their infusion set out MANY times, I think this would be super useful.
The patch and Freestyle Libre tape is waterproof and will help secure your Freestyle Libre sensor for 15 days or longer.
Benefits of PumpPeelz
They have a wide variety of designs, including for kids, and themes like Christmas, Halloween, etc
Drawbacks of PumpPeelz
The maximum amount in the “bulk” packs are 4 stickers
If you’re looking for a great-value product that has wonderful reviews on Amazon, then PatchLux might be the right choice for you.
These guys only sell on Amazon and offer a variety of patches for CGMs including the Freestyle Libre.
These guys claim their adhesive will allow your patch to stick longer and will last up to 10 days (this isn’t as useful for people who are using 14 day sensors).
The Freestyle Libre patches are also made from latex free adhesive which means it shouldn’t trigger any allergic reactions or skin irritation.
In terms of colours on offer, there are very limited choices.
Benefits of PumpPeelz
A more budget option for those on a tighter budget
So there we have it, my guide to the best Freestyle Libre patches for your sensor.
If you want my honest choice, then I would choose Not Just A Patch, simply because this is the patch I’m using, and continue to use.
I love the colours and I’ve had NO issues with skin irritation, which has honestly been a real problem for me in the past with my super sensitive skin.
Don't forget you can get 10% off Not Just A Patch with the code Cazzy10
